No sympathy for Tate
Well, yeah, as I said, Violet is dead. But I don’t really want to talk about Violet, I want to talk about Tate, because now we know everything about his motivation and what he exactly did.
I thought he was a psycho. Like, a real psycho, you know. With a dissociative disoster. Or a schizophrenia. With anything that is inherent, not acquired because of some circumstances he couldn’t deal with. Because first one helps to feel “a sympathy for the devil”. The second one just shows that Tate was weak. That Tate still a weak person. Especially, when there is Constance, such a strong woman and looking at her I can understand that all those things were the things a human being can deal with.
He is just a boy, who couldn’t deal with his mothers’ pressure on him and the death of his brother. I’m not even sure he loved him. Cause, did you see him visiting Boo after death? Tate is also a drug addict. Yes, he was depressed. He’s still depressed. And he’s emotianally addicted to every women’s love manifistations. Which makes me think, he doesn’t really love Violet. He’s just emotionally addicted to her. Well, he is. First of all. And the thing is, Violet started to realize all this.
And it’s sad. I really would like to feel sympathy for Tate. But I can’t, not anymore. He’s just a sad teen. It doesn’t discharge his desperate actions, murders, setting people on fire, raping people with a poker and etc.
My thoughts on Tate and Violet
Tate is the Rubberman. Tate knows that he is dead. He knows it for sure. Violet is dead too and she don’t know it, but Tate does. Violet also don’t know what Tate has done to her mother and who is the Rubbeman. But she is going to find out all this. How? I see it this way:
VIOLET (trying to stay calm): I know what you’ve done. I’m leaving the house. I’m leaving you, Tate.
TATE: No, you can’t.
VIOLET (nervously, her voice gets shrill, when Tate tries to grab her arms): Of course I can. Don’t touch me! Get away from me!
TATE: You don’t understand, Violet. You can’t leave the house. You’re dead. I couldn’t save you.
